"Healthy families, stronger communities"
Conviventia believes in and defends the fundamental role of family in building society.
Families are where belief systems, principles and values are transmitted. It is where the base for all interaction within society is established. We therefore work from all fronts to strengthen this social institution.
EMP School of Community Leadership
School for parents and family counseling
To achieve development, a community needs to have structure and committed leadership. Our training program is therefore based on the belief that within all communities there is a wealth of knowledge and experience, that if used in creative ways, can be channeled into collective action to achieve improvement in the peoples’ conditions of life. With the conviction that true Christianity affects our attitude toward others and awakens social responsibility, our School of Practical Ministries supports the training of servant leaders willing to fulfill the Divine mandate of loving one another in Word and in deed. Through training in biblical principles and practical community development skills, participants are equipped to participate in community affairs and promote among their groups and community a sustainable transformation.
Aware of the uniqueness of scouting, as a tool for developing discipline, responsibility and promoting service and recognition of human dignity, Conviventia supports the establishment of scout groups among vulnerable communities afflicted by poverty and violence. Based on the principles of loving and serving God, and recognizing the obligation that all individuals have to develop and use their potential, the Scouts initiative aims to bring out the best in children and youth, that they may stand strong against the pressures of their context and act as agents of transformation and hope.
Conviventia’s (CDA) scout groups are linked to the Christian Confederation of Scouts, an international organism that remains faithful to the Christian principles upon which the movement was established back in 1907.
Operation Family focuses on the establishment of adequate family dynamics, guiding individuals to take on their role and responsibilities, favouring healthy relationships that will lead to the emotional maturity, personal achievement and effective participation of individuals in society.
Through family strengthening and the development of community leadership, Conviventia strives for the creation of safe environments for children, free from abuse, ill-treatment and exploitation. Parents are linked to training processes, receiving counselling and therapeutic support which enable and equip them to build more peaceful, protective and nourishing environments.
